2016 to 2019 - Incorporation of SKILLS

  • SKILLS spun off as a separate technical vocational institute managed by PSEFI. PSEFI maintains its status as a non-profit non-stock corporate foundation that creates grants for academic and Techvoc scholarships and provides management oversight to SKILLS. 
  • Following the DepEd accreditation in 2015, the SKILLS Senior High School opened focusing on Industrial Arts and Home Economics technical vocational livelihood courses. SKILLS entered into a partnership with SM Foundation which supported the scholarship of the senior high students. By 2018, the first batch of senior high school graduated.
  • PGB employees started participating in environmental activities such as coastal and community cleanup and tree planting.
  • PSEFI SKILLS President and COO, Ms. Paulette was recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World Award and 100 Most Influential Global HR Professional.
  • PSEFI became a member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 
  • PSEFI SKILLS became a partner of the Department of Labor and Employment and Cebu City’s Department of Manpower Development and Placement for the Jobstart Program.
  • PSEFI SKILLS partnered with Biken Techno Philippines to implement the special cleaning and maintenance training program. Biken’s modern cleaning and maintenance techniques were introduced and they also donated equipment to the school.
  • SKILLS partnered with DepEd in the pilot implementation of the Joint Delivery Voucher Program (JDVP). Under JDVP, senior high school students enrolled at public national high schools have the option to take their TVL at private TVIs like SKILLS. To date, the DepEd-SKILLS partnership under JDVP yielded 490 completers in various TESDA NC II courses.
  • PSEFI was accredited DSWD as a Social Welfare Development Agency (SDWA).
  • PGB launched the BPop Acapella Challenge which celebrated local culture and artistry and raised funds for scholarships. More fundraisers were initiated by PGB and the employees in the coming years.
  • Ms. Paulette D. Liu, was recognized as Socially Responsible Entrepreneur of the Year by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) Grand Chamber Awards.
  • PSEFI SKILLS acquired Dragon Interseas Maritime Corporation (DIMC), a maritime school that offers pre-shipboarding training to aspiring seafarers. At present, DIMC offers several domestic and international maritime courses.
  • SKILLS was accredited by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provider for Civil Engineering. SKILLS already conducted several CPD sessions, both online and in-person, specifically designed for Civil Engineers and other construction professionals aiming to enhance their knowledge and skills in construction-related topics. The CPD training sessions were facilitated by industry professionals who have extensive expertise and experience in engineering and construction.
  • PSEFI SKILLS partnered with Megawide Construction and Megawide Foundation for the training of youth in construction skills. The training program is customized based on the requirements of Megawide.
  • PSEFI SKILLS partnered with Together We Can Change The World (TWCCTW). TWCCTW funded the refurbishment of the hospitality services mobile training van. By 2019, mobile training was initiated in Minglanilla, Cebu.
  • PSEFI started its partnership with Habitat for Humanity – Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter (HFH-TCIS). TCIS is focused on developing innovative solutions that lead to better housing for low-income households. PSEFI SKILLS participated in Build Fairs organized by TCIS which brought better housing knowledge and products to rural communities. 
  • PSEFI SKILLS also worked with another international NGO, Plan International. With Plan, PSEFI SKILLS supported the construction TVET training of men and women from northern Cebu. A number of the graduates joined PSC after completion of their training.
  • Started engagement with the United States Agency for Internal Development (USAID) through the YouthWorksPH Program managed by Philippine Business for Education (PBEd). Under YouthWorksPH, youths who are not in education, employment or training accessed construction TVET and life skills training support.
  • PSEFI SKILLS’ multi-skilling and industry certification approaches in construction received the Innovation Award for Partnerships and Policies from the Habitat for Humanity during its 7th Asia-Pacific Housing Forum in Bangkok, Thailand. PSEFI SKILLS advocates the bundling of construction trades including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and tile setting as one of the sustainable ways to build disaster resilient homes.
  • SKILLS opened a Caregiving NC II program to help address the shortage of health workers locally and abroad. A number of the graduates of the program eventually joined The Hospital at Maayo (formerly Maayo Medical Center).
